Curriculums
Class Size

With each class having no more than 30 students, students will be separated based on grade level and general aptitude. Assessments will be performed on multiple subjects (math, ELA-Reading and ELA-Writing) to gauge students’ levels. Two tutors with differing responsibilities will be assigned to each class.

Math

Our math program will be separated into two sessions (review and enrichment). There will be a lesson taught everyday, Monday through Thursday with accompanying worksheets during each session. Students are expected to finish the set of worksheets by the end of the day. If unfinished, tutors may require them to take it home and finish it.

Students often struggle with the subject due to a lack of fluency in the fundamentals. As such, students third grade and up will be tested on multiplication every Friday. They will be given 12 minutes to complete a drill of 200 basic multiplication facts ranging from the 0 - 15 times tables. While most school districts require students to be comfortable with fact fluency up to the 12s, we believe the added times tables from 13-15 will vastly benefit our students, especially in areas including long division, multi-digit multiplications, exponents, radicals, etc

ELA-Reading

The ELA-Reading portion will focus on the strengthening and reinforcement of reading concepts, such as comparing and contrasting, main ideas, supporting ideas, and others taught in conjunction to the ELA-Writing course. We strive to provide our students with real-world language arts analytical skills that are required in the Common Core standards. Students will be reading from various mediums and outlets, including news articles, peer-reviewed journals, and statistical studies to integrate real-world quantitative reasoning. They will be expected to answer comprehension questions and engage in discussions.

ELA-Writing

The ELA-Writing section will be conducted based on the student’s level at the time of assessment. The course will mainly focus on convention (grammar and sentence structure) and diction (word choice and vocabulary growth). Our tutors will go through the fundamentals prior to engaging in the actual writing process to ensure students have a comprehensive foundation. Every other week, students will be given a writing topic that requires their thoughtful input with the techniques learned. Our tutors will work with students on written drafts throughout the program. Students will then compile their written drafts with revisions at the end of the writing period as a final draft. In addition, free writing topics will be given on Fridays occasionally for students to express their creativity.
